Our History
Incorporated in 1998, Snug Harbor Community Chorus, Inc. is a non-profit organization devoted to sharing a love of vocal music. We present quality family musical entertainment and contribute to a variety of educational opportunities for the performing arts throughout the community. The chorus' roots are in Duxbury, but our community includes much of the South Shore.
Our main concerts are presented twice each year. The fall/winter rehearsal season culminates in a Christmas concert featuring traditional carols and varied seasonal fare that are representative of the various styles and moods of the season. The spring rehearsal season is highlighted by show tunes, folk, popular and movie classics. Performances have been held numerous venues throughout the South Shore. Many of our members also sing with local church choirs and other community choruses.
The growth of our program resulted in sell-out performances and precipitated our move to the Duxbury Performing Arts Center in the spring of 2006.
As a non-audition group, the Snug Harbor Community Chorus offers a special opportunity for singers to gather together, learn music, and become one voice in concert. Our music challenges us and offers us the opportunity to grow in musicianship and community.
We also derive great pleasure from our outreach activities. We have performed at numerous civic and charitable events, contributed to the Duxbury Performing Arts Center, and we have established music scholarships for local high school students.
We are directed by Steve Bergman, our new director as of the fall of 2022.
